The West Point Lighthouse stands among the island's most recognizable places in PEI. The islands' tallest lighthouse at 69 feet tall stands on a sandy beach at the tip of West Point where the waters of the Northumberland Strait and Egmont Bay Merge.
Built in 1875, put into operation in 1876, and manned until 1963 when he keeper, who lived in the attached dwelling, retired, today the lantern pirates electrically.
In 1987, it became Canada's first Inn within an active lighthouse. A designated Heritage Site and one of the Top 11 Lighthouse Inns in the World.
How could I not be inspired to paint the gorgeous landscapes in Prince Edward Island!!!
